About Rail Technology Program (RTP)

A great opportunity has arisen for a Specialist Information / Data Management to work on an exciting major project at BHP, the Rail Technology Programme (RTP).  RTP is a transformational upgrade of WAIO’s train control and signalling system. RTP will deliver the words first heavy haul moving block signalling system. Moving block will allow trains and other rail-mounted vehicles to safely run much closer together, resulting in a substantial increase in the rail network’s capability along with a step-change improvement in safety.  Come and be a part of this success.

About the Role

We have an opportunity for a Specialist Information / Data Management as part of the Rail Technology Programme Project, based in Perth. Reporting to the RTP Engineering Manager you will be responsible for managing changes to technical requirements and technical baselines across RTP. Further the Specialist role will support the strategy for the development of Information / Data management systems across the wider BHP WAIO rail operation to support the new technology being introduced by the programme.

 Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensure consistent application of information / data and change control processes across the RTP project delivery.
  • To manage and coordinate the process of change to technical requirements and technical baselines across the project delivery.
  • To own reporting on adherence to the technical change management processes.
  • As a member of the Project Change Control Board, establish ownership of change control processes and technical gate reviews as per agreed cadence in the programme.
  • With a supporting team, drive the development of a data / information management strategy that spans the complete systems engineering cycle and references industry best practice.
  • Act as a key interface to BHP WAIO Rail Operations for matters related to data / information management and establish alignment with existing BHP data / information management processes.
  • Provide guidance to engineers on the Data / Information Management Processes they need to follow.

About You

To be successful in this role you will possess:

  • Extensive hands-on working experience of data / information management in either defence, resources, oil & gas sectors.
  • Experienced Data Management practitioner in all hardware and software related disciplines, including Configuration Control, Status Accounting, CM Audits, Baseline Management, Software Data Management and Information / Data database requirements.
  • Ability to perform within a multi-functional programme team comprising both BHP staff and the suppliers.
  • Experience in roles that demonstrate technical leadership and application of system engineering skills.
  • Demonstrates understanding of the system engineering lifecycle and phases.
  • Experience in rail, marine or defence.

Location and Roster

You will be based in Perth, Western Australia, in the multi award winning office tower - ‘City Square’. You will have stunning river views from your modern open plan office, state of the art facilities including virtual whiteboards and video conferencing facilities, 550 bicycle racks with ample lockers, showers and change room amenities and a large outdoor terrace with barbecues. 

You will be working on Monday-Friday roster while flexible work is also offered.
