Macmahon has an exciting opportunity for an Inventory Specialist to join the Inventory team in Perth. Reporting to the Manager – Inventory and Systems, this role is responsible for continuous analysis of stock levels to determine optimum stock holding across the business.  The role focuses on working out what items are required to be held in stock, their optimum quantity and location whilst ensuring that equipment downtime is not compromised.

Typically the roster for this role is Monday to Friday, but at times short visits to the operational sites are required that may involve being away for a weekend.


The Perth office is strategically located at the Airport (T1/T2) and boasts an impressive staff gym with personal and group training, free secure undercover parking, and electric vehicle charging stations. 

Responsibilities  

  • Assist to implement and improve Inventory Management framework
  • Ensure Inventory Values are kept to within the targets without adversely effecting machine down time
  • Develop/improves Stock holding procedures 
  • Develop/improve Inventory related KPI’s 
  • Develop/improve tools to determine optimum stock holding quantity and location
  • Work on developing and maintaining a material forecast
  • Perform tyre demand forecasts
  • Develop measurement tools to determine how cost-effectiveness of inventory held
  • Use tools to review stock holding across whole company at least on a quarterly basis
  • In consultation with the sites, implement changes to items being stocked 
  • Assist with Site Audits to identify where processes are not being followed and where improvements are needed
  • Assist with showing new employees how to use the system to be able to follow the inventory processes and accurately transact in the system
  • Develop procedures/processes to ensure stocked items do not deteriorate or expire
  • Review catalogue to keep data clean and work with Catalogue team to ensure duplication is minimised, naming conventions are maintained, and supplier details are current

Qualifications and attributes

  • SAP experience required, preferably SAP HANA S4 (public Cloud)
  • At least 3 years practical experience in materials management
  • At least 1-year supply management experience relating to inventory 
  • Formal training (preferably a degree) in material/inventory management
  • Supply Chain knowledge and experience
  • Statistical analysis
  • Advanced computer skills
  • Customer handling skill 
  • Risk assessment knowledge and understanding
  • Ability to adapt to different Projects/Clients Requirements
