We are looking for a Specialist – Inventory Management to develop and implement systems and processes to sustain improvement in inventory management and improve repairables management to reduce (and reverse) the build-up of obsolete stock and lower the cost of repairables. This role is a key link between the management of the warehouse inventory (i.e., inventory control and repairable spares) and the users of the inventory (maintenance and maintenance planning).

Reporting to the Superintendent – Materials Management and working in a diverse team, you will:

  • Oversee the inventory control and repairable processes
  • Maintain consistent service level for customers across site
  • Identify, develop, and improve material management processes
  • Engage with vendors to improve repair service standards by assisting in the creation, maintenance and management of repair agreements including continuous auditing of quality of repairs as well as supplier performance. Deliver site Repairable Material management training.
  • Work with site engineers to develop scope of work documents for repairable items and analyse premature failure on these components.

What you will bring

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • Maintenance and Maintenance Planning experience, or knowledge of these areas
  • Experience in Materials Management for a Manufacturing operation
  • Experience in auditing repair vendor quality systems
  • High level of SAP knowledge (Maintenance Planning, Materials Management)
  • High level of inventory analysis knowledge
  • Mechanical Trade qualification is preferred but not essential

Where you’ll be working

Located in Central Queensland, approximately 10km north-west of Gladstone, Yarwun alumina refinery commenced operations in 2004. Processing bauxite from our mines in Weipa and Gove, Yarwun produces more than three million tonnes of smelter grade alumina annually. 

As one of the largest industries in the Gladstone region, Yarwun employs over 700 people and has a large contractor workforce. 

With a focus on safely improving our process every day, the team at Yarwun challenge themselves to use existing and emerging technology to support our 24 hour operation.
