An opportunity has opened up due to internal promotion for a Land Management Specialist working as part of the Mine Development Planning Team.  The role is responsible for co-ordinating the land management programme for the portfolio of freehold land owned by the South32 Worsley Alumina Joint Venture properties and surrounding our operations near Boddington and near Collie. 

Location 
Boddington     This role is based at either the Boddington Bauxite Mine located a short drive from the community of Boddington (10 minutes), Pinjarra (50 minutes) and the City of Mandurah (1 hour) or at the Worsley Refinery situated near Collie.  This is a DIDO position as there is no accommodation on site.

Accountabilities   
Primary responsibilities are to:  
Develop and implement the Land Management strategy for the Worsley Joint Venture owned portfolio of land, including:
•    Develop goals and objectives for the strategic management of land;
•    Manage commercial processes including negotiation and finalisation of Agricultural leases (in conjunction with South32 legal);
•    Agricultural lease management and residential lease management (via an appointed property manager) including property inspections, management and supervision of required property maintenance; 
•    Management of bushfire risk, including delivery of detailed burn plans to manage forested estate;
•    Development and implementation of rehabilitation plans for disturbed or contaminated sites.
•    Development and implementation of a declared pest and weeds program in conjunction with the BBM environmental team. 
•    Support the preparation of land management budgets, monitor and manage expenditure for land Management activities such as maintenance programmes for the Properties. 
•    Interface with the Principle Biodiversity as required for inclusion of land estate into the Biodiversity Offset Plans.

Environment, Safety & Risk focus: 
•    An overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development. 
•    Manage contractors to ensure compliance with operating standards, procedures and work instructions.
•    Ensure compliance with all legislative and license to operate requirements including compliance with the Work, Health and Safety Act 2020 for all land management activities and contractors;
•    Ensure properties are managed in accordance with all applicable legislation and sustainable practices are incorporated into lease requirements;

About You   
•    Experience in land management including at least 5 years in a relevant industry (Forestry, Agriculture, Mining, Land Management)
•    Strong and effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to foster alignment and collaboration between multi-disciplinary technical teams as well as external stakeholders.
•    Project management skills including problem definition, planning, initiation and tracking 
•    Degree in Science, Agriculture, Forestry preferred
•    Experience with spatial data software (e.g. Esri GIS)
•    Strong computer skills, specialising in the use of Microsoft Office suite and 1SAP
•    Demonstrated capability in supervising works programmes in the field.
