The BHP Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA) Integrated Remote Operations Centre (IROC) is a state-of-the-art control operations facility encompassing our coal asset operations located across Central Queensland. This world-class control centre makes a significant contribution to ensuring our Coal operations continue to improve performance in a sustainable way by coordinating the near-term scheduling, planning, and controlling of our coal assets from the Brisbane CBD.
About the Role
The IROC (Integrated Remote Operations Centre) at BHP are currently looking for a Specialist Logistics Scheduling to join their team. As Specialist Logistics Scheduling you will deliver the outbound logistics schedule across multiple mines and ports.
In this full-time permanent position, you will be based at our Brisbane corporate office working a Monday to Friday roster.
You will work in an environment which is dynamic and striving to continuously improve performance, and with this, you will be involved in continuous improvement projects to help us become even better!
In this role you will:
- Plan shipping and railing activities in with the week +1 to week +8 scheduling horizon by liaising with internal and external stakeholders to balance supply chain priorities
- Lead scheduling activities with rail service providers to ensure schedules are aligned to 12 week capability.
- Manage berthing schedules, railings, and inventory to optimise supply chain output, ensure customer requirements are met, and value is maximised
- Engage with Service providers to identify and quantify supply chain constraints.
- Liaise with peers within the Logistics and Integrated Planning teams to establish coal chain, customer, and infrastructure priorities.
- Develop shipping schedules and rail orders as owners of short-term demand planning activities.
- Carry out schedule transportation, balance supply & demand processes.
Divestment of Blackwater and Daunia Mines:
On 18th October 2023, BHP announced that BHP and Mitsubishi Development have agreed to divest the Blackwater and Daunia mines to Whitehaven Coal. Whitehaven will assume operating control of the Daunia and Blackwater mines on completion of the sale, which is expected to occur in Q4 FY24. Whitehaven will provide an offer of employment to each employee directly supporting the Blackwater and Daunia mines.
The successful candidate will receive an offer of employment and contract from BMA for the role, and once the role has commenced, they will receive a second contract from Whitehaven on conditions of employment that are no less favourable on an overall basis.
The offer of employment from Whitehaven will start on Legal Day 1 once Whitehaven assumes operating control of Daunia and Blackwater Mines. Until Legal Day 1, BMA will maintain operating control of Daunia and Blackwater Mines.
About You
As the successful candidate, you will demonstrate:
- Formal Qualification in Logistics Management an advantage
- Extensive knowledge of bulk commodities exports and international shipping industry
- Sound computer skills and use of MES level/planning systems and or 1SAP
- Sound knowledge of rail coordination and terminal operations
- You will exhibit strong computer skills with the ability to learn new systems.
- You will be a motivated individual who can use their relationship building and negotiation skills in order to influence others and achieve desired outcomes
- Ability to assess threats/opportunities, make informed decisions, and foster a risk-aware culture.
- Identify, engage and manage a range of diverse internal and external stakeholders.
