Specialist Mechanical Engineer - Fixed Plant

About the role

We are looking for a Specialist Mechanical Engineer to support the expansion of Gudai-Darri.

Reporting to the Superintendent Projects, this role will focus on mechanical engineering activities for fixed plant with the following responsibilities:

·       Involvement in detailed design and risk reviews for operability, maintainability and reliability, as well as implementation of appropriate actions to manage identified risks

·       Provide input into procedure development such as safe work practices and maintenance tactics

·       Guidance on equipment selection and functionality

·       Develop business case to justify any project inclusions or omissions improving project outcomes

·       Ensure compliance to standards, and contribute to user requirement specification and basis of design

·       Connecting with the AMES team, investigating and providing responses to relevant technical queries

·       Involvement in process plant commissioning

About you

  • Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical Engineering or significant relevant maintenance experience
  • Previous operational experience in fixed plant operations
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including good oral and written skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels
  • A Current "C Class” manual Driver’s license

 It will also be beneficial if you have:

  • Experience in design and/or commissioning of dry and wet iron ore processing fixed plants
  • Exposure to large scale fixed plant projects
  • Knowledge of control systems processes

Where you will be working

This position will be site based on an 8:6 FIFO roster with some work in Perth (design review workshops, etc.). The majority of your role will require site time to gain a deep understanding of the existing Gudai-Darri operations, build your network with existing site personnel and coordinate project site work.
