About the role
We are looking for a Specialist Mechanical Readiness to join the Greater Brockman Operational Readiness team to provide specialist operational readiness advice and support to the portfolio of major projects across Greater Brockman.
The role contributes at a tactical level to the design of operational readiness processes, practices, and tools to improve performance and facilitate the application of governance processes for leading practice across all GBO projects, with an emphasis on all fixed plant assets.
Reporting to the Superintendent Fixed Plant Readiness, and working in a supportive and collaborative environment, you will be:
- Creating Value through Optimizing and sustaining value with a strong commercial interest to ensure leading practices are implemented
- Working collaboratively and fostering relationships with other departments to achieve wider business objectives
- Getting results through providing advice and support through all project stages are being developed and implemented in line with Rio Projects endorsed methodology
- Able to identify opportunities for improvement including safety in design, reliability, operations and maintenance of new and existing assets
- Provide engineering guidance for the procurement of new equipment and components
What you’ll bring
- Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering
- Experience in mechanical, maintenance or reliability engineering in mining or industrial environment will be highly regarded.
- Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, able to build strong functional relationships with partners in a complex, matrix organisation.
- Well-developed people influencing, engagement and communication skills.
- Mature approach to issues and strong decision-making skills
- Proven ability in safety leadership in the mining or relevant industry.

Where you’ll be working
Located 60km north-west of Tom Price, Brockman is wholly owned and operated by Rio Tinto. Opened in 2010, this open pit operation offers a family friendly fly in fly out roster with state-of-the-art camp facilities.
The Greater Brockman Operations consist of Brockman 2, Brockman 4, Nammuldi and Silvergrass. Driving the latest technological advancements, the open-pit mines offer an avenue for opportunity and career progression.
