Specialist Mine Planning
Work Location: Perth - Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk Noongar people.
Roster: Monday to Friday
We are currently seeking a highly motivated Specialist Mine Planner to join our Operations Planning Technical Services team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in transforming the mine planning process and realising additional value in the supply chain. This individual will be passionate about finding practical solutions and possess a deep understanding of operational and mine planning processes.
Reporting to the Principal Mine Planning you will be instrumental in ensuring the operations planning function effectively plans and executes an electrified mining operation. This role demands strong interpersonal skills and a proactive approach, as we navigate uncharted territory in pursuit of our Real Zero objective by 2030.
Key responsibilities include:
- Implement optimisation tools to drive mining and supply chain improvements
- Serve a key role in the development and implementation of AI solutions to the mine planning process
- Contribute to the development of an adaptive planning and scheduling system that realises the company's goals of operating under a dynamic integrated electrical operation
- Evaluate and address gaps in the mine planning process
- Provide technical expertise and mentorship to site mine planning teams
- Conduct scenario analysis and assist in transition planning of electrical mining equipment and autonomous systems
Qualifications and Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in mining engineering or a related discipline
- Prior experience in both operational and technical roles within the mining industry
- Bachelor's degree in mining engineering or a related field
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Independent thinker with a strong ability to take initiative and drive projects forward
