About the Role

Reporting to the Superintendent Mine Scheduling, you will use your strong technical skills and experience to work with a team of engineers to produce optimised designs and schedules that will enable operations to deliver superior performance. We have a multi-skilled planning team, allowing for team rotations and deployment into either truck shovel, drill & blast, scheduling or dragline design. In this role you will develop effective working relationships with key stakeholders and customers to ensure plan compliance and examine opportunities of continuous improvement. This role is based at Blackwater Mine, Central Queensland. Residential, FIFO & DIDO travel options are available on a flexible 8/6, 4/3 roster.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Produce mine designs and update waste/coal reserves for inclusion in the mine schedule.
  • Plan and schedule the mine from weekly to 18 months to maximise value and meet business objectives.
  • Manage equipment interactions and enabling activities in the mine schedule.
  • Monitor monthly compliance to plan and design compliance.
  • Prepare strip reconciliations and share learnings within the business to continually improve the mine schedule.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with operational and functional teams.
  • Mentoring of graduates, interns and new starters.

About You

You will have a tertiary education in mining engineering or equivalent. You will have demonstrated experience working as a mining engineer and demonstrate a high level safety culture. You will use your considerable communications & influencing skills to drive positive change, interacting with all levels of the business to achieve goals. Your natural curiosity and diversity of thought will be embraced along with your “can-do” attitude. A strong working knowledge of the following software packages is preferred but not essential:

  • Spry
  • Deswik
  • 3D Dig
  • Microsoft Office Suite
