About the Role
As a Specialist Mine Scheduling the role is focused on design and sequencing for the Goonyella Riverside Mine’s Dragline Fleet managing the unique complexity of operating in and around an autonomous truck fleet.
You will use your already developed mine planning skills and experience in this dynamic and challenging short-term mine planning role. The role will see you develop effective working relationships within the mine planning team, operational and tactical (medium-term) planning teams, in order to ensure the efficient execution of your plans and sequences.
This position is based onsite at Goonyella Riverside but offers flexible travel arrangements and will be working an 8/6 roster with FIFO/DIDO or residential opportunities.
Responsibilities Include:
- Prepare Dragline designs and schedules to optimise for safe and productive operations;
- Build and maintain close working relationship with Mine Operation teams;
- Minimise downtime and delay of operational activities through optimising the mining sequences, identifying key enabling activities and reducing interactions;
- Identify interactions and key enabling activities and put plans in place to manage them;
- Identify, develop and implement Mine Planning improvement initiatives & follow standards and processes;
- Participate in the investigation of reported events (safety or otherwise) for Mine Planning;
- Ensure that teams are adequately briefed on technical matters to make appropriate decisions.
About You
As a successful candidate, you will possess a tertiary education in Mining Engineering or similar with previous experience working at an Open Cut Coal Mining operation.
Your strong communication and interpersonal skills will allow you to implement mine planning improvement initiatives, build and maintain trusted relationships across departments and communicate effectively with disciplines at all levels.
You will have:
- A commitment to ensuring safety is considered first and foremost in any design;
- Demonstrated design experience in any of the following disciplines: Dragline, Drill and Blast, Coal Mining, Dozer Push, Pre-strip, Coal Quality, and Scheduling;
- Proficiency with a range of mine design software (such as Deswik, Vulcan) and scheduling software packages (such as Spry, Deswik, XACT, XPAC) and;
- Strong communication and presentation skills
