Rio Tinto’s Mine Technical Services is looking for a Mining Degree qualified and industry experienced Specialist Mining Engineer to join their Perth based team.  With the support of industry leading systems and processes, you will be responsible for the generation and reconciliation of the Quarterly Plans for the Hope Downs 4 operations.  You will guide the Mine Planners on Quarterly Plan Strategy, conformance to plan and be the Technical Specialist for site.

This is a permanent position working 5 days on, 2 days off, Monday to Friday. Working out of the Rio Tinto Central Park office there will be flexibility to work from home on occasional days as per operational requirements.  It is a requirement of the role to visit site regularly and you will embrace this unique opportunity of being able to truly integrate with site based operational teams. 

What you’ll bring

With a tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or equivalent, you will have demonstrated experience within an open pit mining environment. Your knowledge of medium to long term mine planning, pit optimisation, design concepts and closure related planning will set you up for success. You will have a strong understanding of the fundamental concepts that underpin value in the mining industry, working knowledge of mining and business software (i.e. Vulcan, Minemax, Whittle) as well as the ability to engage and collaborate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders. This role is perfect for someone who thrives on a challenge and is willing to be creative when solving technical problems.
