About the role
It’s an exciting time to join our Iron Ore Operational Readiness team!
Reporting to the Superintendent Operational Readiness, you will work as the operational interface of the project during construction and handover.
You will ensure project targets are aligned, while engaging and updating stakeholders and ensuring expectations are met.
Ideally, you will have a background in non process infrastructure demonstrating projects delivered within budget, and have a have a natural ability to interact with peers and all levels of stakeholders on and off site.
On site your key accountabilities will include:
- Role modelling safety leadership by striving for zero harm and demonstrating the Rio Tinto safety culture
- Implementing and communicating the operational readiness (OR) plan, focusing on project management elements, cost, schedule, risk management and reporting
- Build and maintain a strong relationship with all parties on site, to influence and facilitate operations
- Integration of project presence and workstreams into operations business planning processes and work management activities / scheduling
- Provide financial insights that help the decision-making process
- Ensure risks are identified and recorded on the risk register and assigned actions are regularly update
- Effectively forecast, track and report on actual operational costs and scheduled milestones
What you’ll bring:
- Tertiary qualification in relevant discipline, for example, business, engineering or project management
- In depth knowledge of project management (scoping, planning, scheduling, resource planning and cost estimation) or;
- Well-developed NPI knowledge and significant site experience working in mining operation or similar heavy industry
- The ability to engagement and communicate and influence stakeholders
- Advanced user of Word, Excel and PowerPoint AND Power BI
- Exposure to risk management and business improvement methodologies
- Capability to write conclusive reports and create documents presenting requirements and developed plans, strategies and approaches
- A ‘C’ class drivers’ license will be required.
Where you will be working
Greater Paraburdoo is an open pit operation producing high grade ore as part of the integrated system of mines operated by Rio Tinto across the Pilbara. It is comprised of three mines: Paraburdoo, Channar and Eastern Range. The picturesque town of Paraburdoo offers residents a range of leisure facilities and local amenities including a jet-serviced airport. The operation has a predominantly residential workforce and as such has a strong sense of community where you will be a part of something bigger than just a mining business.
