About the Role

We are actively seeking the talent of multiple innovative and engaging engineers to join Operational Readiness teams in the Pilbara, in the capacity of Specialist NPI Readiness.

This role(s) presents a terrific opportunity for an existing Civil Engineer, Structural Engineer or other relevant technical or applied discipline to draw upon their existing capabilities to shape and define the future operational readiness requirements of upcoming mining projects.

You will be part of an Operational Readiness team that goes beyond to successfully integrate a safe, high-performing asset that exceeds business expectations, contributing to a safely operable, maintainable, and reliable project result. 

This role presents an exceptional opportunity for a sideways discipline move to develop broader studies, project management and operational readiness skill sets.

Reporting to the Superintendent Mining & NPI Readiness you will: 

  • Provide operational input into engineering design for Non-Processing Infrastructure (NPI) from order of magnitude to project implementation.
  • Conduct analytical and business case reviews to define requirements.
  • Conduct asset management and commissioning activities of new infrastructure.
  • Coordinate and monitor progress against the Operational Readiness schedule to ensure project milestones are met.
  • Align people by establishing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders who influence and impact the operational readiness execution plan
  • Role model safety leadership by striving for zero harm and demonstrating the Rio Tinto safety culture, especially through improved safety in design.

What you’ll bring

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team.
  • Degree qualification in (Engineering or Project Management) or appropriate applied experience in infrastructure management and maintenance.
  • A robust understanding of NPI requirements to support the totally mining cycle.
  • Well-developed people influencing, engagement and communication skills.
  • Capability to write conclusive reports and create documents presenting requirements and developed plans, strategies, and approaches.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset and the ability to work independently.
  • A current and valid C Class manual driver’s licence.
  • It will also be beneficial if you have:
  • Knowledge of Australian standards and Rio Tinto IOWA standards.
  • Exposure to risk management methodologies.
  • Knowledge of project management activities.
  • Knowledge of and work experience in operational readiness and/or commissioning processes.
