About the Role
Reporting to the Manager Operational Audit, this role uses audit skills and knowledge to conduct assurance activities over risk management and internal controls. You will support the delivery of the approved internal audit plan by effectively and efficiently planning, executing, and reporting audit activity in your allocated portfolio of audits across BHP’s global Functions and Assets.The primary purpose of this role is to execute audit activities for selected scope areas within audit engagements to a high degree of quality, in compliance with IA Audit Methodology and the internal audit plan. Audit areas include global, regional, Functional, or Asset-based processes
Key Accountabilities
- Supports and enhances audit quality for the allocated portfolio of audits through:
- Improved planning by assisting with audit preparation, on-boarding, design of data analytics, logistics, and consistent work program development.
- Completion of effective fieldwork testing by completing and/or monitoring work allocated by the Audit Manager and collaborating with the audit team, data analytics SMEs, and risk culture SMEs by sharing internal audit knowledge and contributing to factually based outcomes.
- Factual reporting of findings and agreed actions and audit closure by assisting with quality checks.
- Supporting risk culture auditing through data collection, development of hypotheses, performance of interviews, and documentation of risk culture insights.
- Providing clarity over complex internal audit issues and promoting critical thinking to help the business change paradigms to improve the risk and control environment and support risk culture.
- Engaging with the business as appropriate to provide input or resolve questions as management implements agreed remedial actions.
- Specialist roles may focus on HSE, Socio-Environment, Asset Integrity, Maintenance, Projects or Technology risk areas, using relevant expertise to plan, execute, and report on those topics.
- Continuously generate improvement and efficiency opportunities, collaborate with the team, and contribute to functional excellence and a culture of trust and learning.
About You
You will bring a strong process mindset, attention to detail, and excellent communication and influencing skills. You thrive in a dynamic and energetic work environment and are committed to high standards of output and service to stakeholders. You have a proven ability to influence others, maintain a focus on process improvement, and consistently deliver high-quality outcomes in fast-paced settings.
- Audit or specialist experience, preferably in a large international corporate environment, with post-qualification experience in a multi-entity setting preferred.
- Deep understanding of audit/risk, including various models of delivery, and practical experience in the application of Risk Management.
- Experience in mining, heavy manufacturing, and/or industrial industry work environments preferred.
- Well-developed project management skills involving oversight different concurrent projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Commerce/Management/Finance /Accounting/ Science/Engineering/Technology)
- Professional designations on related industry designations preferred.
- Strong understanding of Internal Auditing Standards and Australian, UK, and US regulatory reporting environments preferred.
