About the Business

Yarrabee Coal Company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Yancoal Australia, based in Blackwater Queensland, which is a couple hours west of the Capricorn Coast.  With an international sales portfolio, Yarrabee is a proud producer of high quality PCI coal. Yarrabee also manages the Boonal Joint Venture Coal Stockpile and Train Loadout Facility, for both Yarrabee and Jellinbah Mine's Coal. Operating continuously since 1982 Yarrabee has a strong long term future outlook for ongoing coal production. The site employs a workforce of approximately 400 people, which proudly boasts it's integrated close knit culture of people who collectively pull together as a team.

Yarrabee are looking for an experienced pump crew operator to join the team in Blackwater.

About the Role

Reporting to the Coal Crew Coordinator this role is to safely and effectively manage water coordination of both onsite and offsite activities that may affect Yarrabee Coal Company. Activities include minimise production delays from wet weather events, manage Pit Dewatering and reticulation activities on site, and manage water discharge offsite as per the Regulatory approval process and Yarrabee approvals authorities. You are also required to assist with operating machinery when requested by the Coal Crew Coordinator.

About You

Skills

  • Sound verbal and written communication skills.
  • Skilled in hazard identification and responsive to safety issues.
  • Capable of conducting Poly Welding activities where required.
  • Must be able to demonstrate sound manual handling practices as determined by the role.

Knowledge

  • Thorough understanding of individual responsibilities in relation to the Coal Mining Safety & Health Act and associated regulations.
  • Sound understanding of hazard identification.
  • A high-level understanding of pump parameters and being able to troubleshoot pumping inefficiencies.
  • Must understand the physical requirements of manual handling activities and environmental conditions of Pit Dewatering tasks.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Previous experience in the operation and maintenance of plant and machinery and pit dewatering activities within a mining or heavy industry environment (5yrs + desirable)
  • Current unrestricted QLD open drivers’ licence.
  • Applicable Competencies. (Conduct Pit Dewatering and Conduct Haul Truck Operations as a minimum).
  • Standard 11 Mine Induction (Surface).
  • Current Qld Coal Board Medical or willing to obtain
