About Mt Arthur Coal

Mt Arthur Coal is in the Hunter Valley region of New South Wales, Australia. The site produces coal predominantly for international customers in the energy sector. BHP announced in June 2022 that they will retain Mt Arthur Coal in its portfolio, seek the relevant approvals to continue mining beyond its current mining consent that expires in 2026 and prepare for closure by the end of FY2030.

About the Role

As a Specialist Planning & Scheduling, you are responsible for developing, maintaining and communicating maintenance work plans for our front-line teams to safely execute. 

These are exciting new roles at Mt Arthur Coal where you will contribute to success by leveraging work management processes and systems to manage a rolling 12-week maintenance plan, integrating with production requirements.

These roles will be Monday-Friday (with flexibility) and are based at our Mt Arthur Coal site in Muswellbrook. 

Hybrid / Flex work will be considered.  BHP can provide domestic relocation support to enable you to reside in the stunning local Hunter Valley region.

Key deliverables will include:

  • Scheduling of agreed planned work in accordance with the 1SAP work management processes.
  • Delivering a high volume of optimised maintenance plans for equipment across site
  • Monitoring, controlling and improving weekly work management processes.
  • Improving master data to support maintenance strategy accuracy
  • Plan work in accordance with the 1SAP Work Management process, accurately identifying the required components and resources prior to scheduling 
  • Arranges specialist or external resources (where required) to support the completion of complex work
  • Identify and implement actions that will improve the Scheduling of maintenance work.
  • Identify opportunities to share resources across departments and sites within an asset to ensure that plans are optimised, maximising the capacity available across the site and asset
  • Have strong interface across the maintenance, production and reliability teams

About You

As a successful candidate you will possess the following:

  • Experience in Asset Management, maintenance execution, maintenance planning & reliability or production processes, with solid technical aptitude and maintenance process expertise
  • Knowledge of SAP (or an equivalent ERP system)
  • Experience in Mining or Fixed Plant
  • Knowledge of planning & scheduling and the Work Management process
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to build relationships
  • Good analytical problem-solving skills, to support sustainable problem resolution
  • Ability to work autonomously and a passion for continuous improvement
  • The ability to manage and drive performance in a peer group
  • Strong attention to detail
  • While not mandatory, a Trade qualification or Engineering degree will be deemed advantageous
