About the Role
As a member of the Modifications and Operational Projects (MOPs) team you will leverage your portfolio management expertise to manage, optimise and monitor the approved portfolio for engineering and site operations teams to deliver quality projects. You will support projects in accordance with the BHP Small Project Management Framework (SPMF) including portfolio governance and assurance, controls and performance reporting. This position is based in Adelaide with occasional travel to Olympic Dam.
In this role you will:
- Manage assigned portfolios and support Project Delivery Groups (PDG), including projects delivered by engineering and site operations teams
- Validate investments and assign projects to the correct PDG
- Collaborate with finance, sponsors and PDGs, provide input into the Corporate Alignment Planning (CAP) process to determine a pipeline of investments and ensure an approved portfolio of prioritised projects
- Implement and provide guidance related to project and portfolio management governance and assurance to define, prioritise, and develop projects and programs
- Develop, review and challenge estimates, cash-flows and schedules
- Coordinate project life-cycle steps to confirm projects status, validate project information and KPIs, process gate submission and baseline that validate project closeout
- Proactively communicate with project teams through early warning identification to take corrective action before deadlines
- Build effective working relationships within the business that provides high-quality support to analyse and understand project performance and reporting requirements
About You
To be successful in this role you will have a solid commercial acumen and be a collaborative communicator with the ability to manage multiple business priorities simultaneously.
Strong interpersonal skills are essential to allow you to influence while also enabling you to build collaborative team relationships, communicate across all business areas at all levels and ensure the highest value outcome for the business.
You will also have:
- Tertiary qualifications to support the technical support requirements of the role
- Solid understanding of project/portfolio management and controls processes and systems
- Sound capability in analytics and financial management
- High proficiency in technical writing, generating process documentation and reports
- Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills, with an ability to translate data into actionable insights
- High attention to detail to assist with projects exceeding expected deliverables
