About the Role

Reporting to the Lead Electrical Engineer within our Governance and Technical Stewardship group, you will provide expertise in Power Systems (LV & HV) that support the successful implementation of our Fatality Elimination Program.

This role will be based in Adelaide with regular travel to site.

In this role you will be required to:

  • Undertake Power System Analysis and design including load flow, fault levels, contingency, stability and optimisation analysis, stability and harmonics analysis and arc flash hazard assessment (AC / DC)
  • Develop and maintain power systems network model and protection settings
  • Develop test and commissioning plans for factory and site acceptance testing of protection and control equipment using proprietary equipment, e.g Omricon/Doble.
  • Developing policies, procedures, and standards governing high voltage and low voltage networks and protection systems  
  • Investigate and analyse protection related faults and protection operation; develop reports and data including relay settings, and configuration files
  • Apply sound engineering principle and knowledge in accordance with applicable industry requirements, e.g. Standards (AS, IEC/IEEE), Electricity Acts and Regulations, National Electricity Rules, AEMO guidelines.
  • Ability to work collaboratively, co-ordinate and interface with a diverse range of stakeholders including mentoring younger engineers

About You

  • Graduate or Post graduate electrical engineer with specialisation in Power Systems desirable
  • Significant experience in design, selection, installation of electrical equipment and systems, protection design including testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of HV and LV power systems for oil and gas, mines and mineral processing, heavy industrial and commercial installations
  • Chartered Professional engineer (or ability to acquire) of Engineers Australia
  • Proven experience and proficiency in the use of power system modelling software (ETAP would be an advantage) and equipment specific supplier software packages for configuration and management of protection parameters, logics and setting files
  • Demonstrated knowledge of substation automation and control applications, e.g. Modbus, DNP, IEC 61850, etc. and interface with higher level SCADA systems
  • Exposure and practical understanding in the use of protection test equipment and experience in primary and secondary testing (generators, transformers, switchgear, electric motors, protection relays)
  • A positive outlook with the ability to motivate and inspire others
  • Strong written and presentational skills with the ability to clearly communicate complex messages to a variety of audiences
  • Demonstrate a willingness to adapt with changing priorities and focus
