About the MECoE

About the Role

The main objective of this role is to improve and govern the integrity of BHP’s engineering information to ensure that it is complete, accurate, and consistent with our requirements.

Reporting to Manager Engineering Information Management, your key accountabilities include: 

Deliver and improve – work with key internal and external stakeholders across BHP to:

  • Analyse datasets (e.g. for tags and deliverables) to determine gaps between the current engineering data against the requirements of the Engineering Information Management (EIM) framework.
  • Develop and deliver practical and pragmatic solutions to close these gaps in the most effective and efficient manner to improve our data quality.
  • Find, measure and deliver the tangible value of implementing the EIM framework will have with our stakeholders.
  • Support assets and functions to develop and execute EIM adoption plans in the most effective and efficient manner.
  • Continue to improve the EIM framework to create greater value for our customers.

Govern – work with key internal and external stakeholders across BHP to:

  • Support the governance of engineering information by developing, maintaining and improving EIM dashboards, handover tools and reports.
  • Develop tools and processes to streamline and automate EIM governance activities.

Other

  • Knows our EIM customers, build strong relationships with them and be obsessed with meeting their needs in the most effective and efficient manner.
  • Willingness to work side by side with our stakeholders to work through and solve difficult issues.
  • Support the activities of the EIM strategy and initiative as required.

About You

As a successful candidate you will possess the following:

  • Strong data analytics capability using Excel, VBA, R, PowerBI or others to produce business-usable, pragmatic insight, actions and recommendations.
  • Experience working with various stakeholders to do data analytics of complex, disparate data sets to interpret meaning, spot patterns and identify specific data trends to be leveraged in your work.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing engineering information as part of Operations, Projects and/or Engineering in a heavy industry (e.g. Oil and Gas, Mining, Manufacturing).
  • Develop and deliver clear presentations, reports and communications materials to various levels of the organisation.
  • Follow a systematic and methodical approach to problem solving.
  • Engineering degree (or equivalent relevant qualification).
  • While it is not mandatory, certification and experience in industry recognized improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma and/or Lean will be advantageous.
