About the role

Our Labour and Maintenance (L&M) team is currently seeking a Category Specialist based in Perth CBD. As part of the broader L&M team, you will be responsible for gaining a clear understanding of our stakeholders needs whilst forming excellent partnerships with our key suppliers which will ultimately underpin and drive excellence across the portfolio. 

We are looking for a highly driven and commercially astute individual, who has a desire to deliver value within the portfolio, minimise risk for Rio Tinto and develop innovative solutions.

About the role:

  • Demonstrate strong teamwork, with a focus on contributing to a respectful and empowering culture whilst delivering excellence
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders and cross-functional working groups to deliver against L&M’s strategic priorities
  • Establish long term, sustainable relationships with key suppliers, based on innovation, sustainability, and mutual value creation
  • Develop and drive category strategy to implement and achieve effective sourcing strategy, category management and supplier relationship management outcomes

About you:

  • Strong team player mindset with the desire to positively contribute to an engaged and progressive culture
  • Category management experience with proven abilities to develop, negotiate and implement commercial strategies
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to constructively influence others
  • Effective time management skills and the ability to balance multiple and competing priorities
