About the role
The Bulk Marketing Portfolio Strategy team is responsible for:
- Working with RTIO studies to shape our product strategy and optimize our value chain end to end, from pit to customers.
- Working with the Sales, Marketing and S&OP teams to maximize value of our products, in light of changing market dynamics and production variability.
- Product pricing and placement for internal valuation purposes.
- Engaging with customers and our Technical Marketing teams to gather information and insights relating to customers operating conditions and purchasing behaviors.
The Specialist, Product Placement, assists with value in use analysis to provide timely and accurate guidance on placement and relative value of different products to stakeholders within Commercial and RTIO. This role is also responsible for improving our understanding of customers technical requirements and operating parameters and improving our value in use models.
Reporting to the Senior Manager Strategy & Best Practice, you will be responsible for:
- Product Value Analysis: Assessment of the value in use of our and competitors products to influence resource development and E2E value chain optimization projects.
- Development of our Value in Use models: Help shape the development pipeline and execute projects that improve our value in use models and build additional capabilities.
- Supporting our Assets: Work with RTIO, Simandou and IOC teams to support product strategy development, resource optimization projects and evaluation of investment opportunities.
- Collaborating across Commercial: Work closely with the Iron Ore Sales and Marketing, Market Analysis, Simandou Commercial, Steel Decarbonization teams and other stakeholders within Commercial, to provide pricing and placement insights to strategic projects.
- Liaising with Technical Marketing: Work with Technical Marketing teams in regional offices to collect customer intelligence, understand purchasing preferences and operating conditions that can be used to improve our understanding of customers value in use of different iron ore products.
- Participating in Technical engagements: Building stronger relationships with customers, providing technical knowledge and data to improve the use of our products, while collecting data and insights.
About you
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in a technical discipline including metallurgical/chemical/process/mining engineering, geology/metallurgy/chemistry/other geoscience or mathematics/physics.
- Comprehensive understanding of pricing in the low/mid grade and high grade iron ore markets.
- Experience in product value assessment in the iron ore industry.
- Experience with customer engagements and working directly with steel mills on the use of iron ore products.
- Coding in Python preferred.
