About the Role
Based at Caval Ridge this role will require you to be a pivotal support to the production teams and embrace the business priorities of safety, culture and productivity.
In this role you will be a self-driven individual with key technical experience and understanding of the open-cut mining process. You will offer support to the production teams at Caval Ridge and their frontline’s to help identify and address the highest value opportunities for safety, strategy and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage with the workforce and develop the capability of others through coaching.
- Promote a culture of diversity and inclusiveness
- Identify and pursue key development opportunities with the production departments, lead and execute continuous improvement initiatives
- Attend and facilitate problem solving sessions to identify ways to solve issues and value add opportunities
- Validate, analyse and maintain production data reporting systems
- Assist in the development and maintenance of safe work instructions, procedures and risk assessments to ensure risk based activities are kept and performed at an acceptable level
- Facilitate and lead thorough incident investigations for significant events and hazards
- Supporting superintendents on important aspects of their roles including; risk management, performance management, coaching, BHP Operating System (BOS), cost management and incident management and cover their roles when required.
- Effectively communicate all pertinent information to stakeholders between departments
About You
We have a strong focus on finding individuals with the right values, leadership capability, and communication skills. Your interpersonal skills will foster collaborative working relationships between Production, Mine Scheduling, and Engineering and Maintenance departments. As the successful candidate, you will preferably possess the following:
- A tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering (or related technical discipline).
- Experience in a large scale open pit mining operation.
- Preferred experience using production data reporting systems (Corvus)
- Displayed aptitude of leadership qualities or leadership experience;
- Strong project management, communication, interpersonal and stakeholder management with demonstrated practical problem solving, and well-developed analytical, interpretive and constructive thinking skills.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
