Location

The Saraji open cut mine is a coal mine located near Dysart in the Central Queensland region of Australia. The mine is located 200 kilometres southwest of Mackay and 60 kilometres south east of the mining town of Moranbah. The Saraji Coal Mine has coal reserves amounting to 648 million tonnes of coking coal, one of the largest coal reserves in Asia and the world. Coal produced at the Saraji mine is exported to overseas steel makers in India, the Americas, Europe, East Asia and South Asia.

About the Role

Our Site Improvement team are seeking a Specialist Production Analyst to join a technically motivated and results-driven team located in our Saraji Mine. This is a 5:2 site-based position, residing in Dysart while on roster, with flexible travel and residential options available for the right applicant.

Reporting to the Superintendent Site Improvements you will participate in problem-solving sessions to identify the root cause of problems, collaboratively problem-solve and explore opportunities to implement Standardised Work and BHP Operating System (BOS) practices and tools.

Responsibilities will also include:

  • Work with stakeholders to help identify, frame, schedule and manage key improvement projects, spanning across Saraji in safety, culture, cost & productivity.
  • Participate in continuous improvement meetings with stakeholders that help to manage and deliver initiatives against the site’s annual priorities.
  • Provide deep analysis into performance and provide summary overviews
  • Analyse, report and present on the progress of improvement projects to internal senior stakeholders.
  • Learn, understand, train & coach in BHP Continuous Improvement processes and systems.

About You

The behavioural qualities you exhibit in this role will be critical to set the expectation to all employees at the site to ensure the timely delivery of improvement projects. Therefore, you must be passionate and have high energy levels, to ensure that together we are improving every day.

You will possess:

  • Ability to work autonomously & to be able to grasp new skills.
  • Prior experience in participating / implementing process improvement or change management projects
  • Critical observing and coaching of peers and leadership on improved ways of working.
  • Exceptional influential skills and managing stakeholders at all levels
  • Problem solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively with the team
  • Analytical and system applying thinking to drive decisions and improvements
  • Tertiary qualification in one of the following disciplines: Engineering, Operations Research, Business, Science, Finance, Commerce or similar would be highly regarded
