About the role

We are looking for a Specialist, Productivity Fixed Plant to coordinate quarterly planning processes and enable analytics and deep insights with trusted information to uncover operational improvement opportunities.

This role is a great opportunity to join the Asset Productivity team within MP&E, Maintenance Planning & Engineering at our Operations Centre in Perth which is a state-of-the-art facility that enables all our mines, ports and rail systems to be operated from a single location.

Reporting to the Principal Advisor Productivity and working in a collaborative community within Maintenance Planning & Engineering, you will be:

• Delivering in depth analytics to identify actions and insights to drive asset performance and asset management;
• Supporting Asset Management team with analytics to build processing plant 3m-10 year productivity pipeline;
• Supporting capacity annual plan activities linking with Integrated Operations, Mine Planning and Finance;
• Leading a small team of direct reports of analyst and data scientist;
• Undertaking ad-hoc analysis on plant performance and driving productivity framework;

What you’ll bring

• A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team;
• Bachelor of Mechanical, Mining, Civil, Electrical Engineering or similar;
• Demonstrated experience in processing plants in operations and maintenance;
• Demonstrated experience in inferential analytics, statistics, and data science;
• Demonstrated experience in complex problem solving and implementing change;
• Demonstrated experience in project management;
• Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with diverse teams and interact, influence, collaborate, and negotiate effectively at all levels of management.
• Demonstrated knowledge of MS SQL, MS Excel and MS Power BI;
• Fundamentals at Python, R or any other coding language;
• Fundamentals at Azure Functions, Data Factory and Synapse (desirable).

Desirable

• Major studies in data science or advanced statistics
• Understanding of Lean and Six Sigma concepts

This role is for applicants residing in or willing to permanently relocate to Western Australia. Rio Tinto offers Fly in and fly out options from Perth, our regional FIFO hubs and the opportunity to live in our residential towns where applicable.

Our integrated iron ore network is supported by our Operations Centre (OC) in Perth, a state-of-the-art facility that enables all the autonomous trucks, trains and drills at our mines, ports and rail systems to be operated from a single location. The Centre incorporates visualisation and collaboration tools to provide real-time information across our demand chain and allows us to optimise our mining, maintenance and logistic activities across the Pilbara in a way never before possible. Located near the Perth domestic airport, the OC operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to coordinate our integrated network of mines, rail, and ports from 1,500km away.
