About the Role

This role will be supporting Jimblebar Beneficiation EPCM project reporting directly to the Lead, Projects Commercial.  The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the wider Projects Commercial Western Australia Major Projects (WAMP) team, Project Controls and other Functions to successfully deliver the JBB project.  The successful candidate will demonstrate Charter Values through their day-to-day engagements and work attitude and possess the following attributes:

  • Providing commercial support to stakeholders and other team members 
  • Support in the selection and implementation of a wider range of contract models / pricing models including incentivization and collaborative contracting arrangements and bundling strategies.
  • Awareness of local market conditions to meet individual the EPCM project requirements.  

Accountabilities

  • Support and manage project contracts and procurement activities.  
  • Some site travel opportunities provided. 
  • Support with Contractor and contract performance, monitoring and reporting to support the Projects Community  
  • Establish relationships with key stakeholders to become a highly valued contract expert.  
  • Provide support to leadership that will ensure consistent & high performance.   
  • Facilitate Supplier Relationship Management while working collaboratively with projects and cross functional stakeholders.  
  • Apply sound commercial judgement around application of contractual terms and conditions.   
  • Ensure the integrity and maintenance of contracts in SAP/contract management systems (e.g., GCMS, ProCon) and other contract management systems as required.  
  • Take responsibility for and provide support on claims prevention, assessment and resolution.  
  • Actively participate and drive BHP Operating Model (BOS) implementation within the team and improvement initiatives. 

About You

To be successful in this role you will be a dedicated and passionate commercial professional with at least 2 years of relevant experience supporting and assisting in capital projects commercial, contracting strategy development, tendering, contract formation, negotiation and management, claims prevention and claims negotiation. Tertiary qualifications in Management, Economics, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management / Construction Science, Legal (Construction Law) or related discipline is preferred.

  • Understanding of EPCM delivery model

  • Knowledge of BHP systems such as GCMS, Procon, Aconex etc.
  • Collaborative mindset and advanced interpersonal skills  
  • Proven ability to operate effectively in complex and ambiguous environment.  
  • Ability to think laterally resolving issues independently, influencing change, working autonomously with attention to detail in an organized and objective manner.  
  • Good understanding of capital projects and functional governance processes 
  • A willingness to gain an in-depth know and understanding of projects execution, risks and strategies. 
  • Supporting project leadership in strategic thinking, robust planning and risk management. 
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal. Ability to tailor communications and interactions to a wide variety of stakeholder groups.
