About the Role

This 12-month, fixed term position will require you to be part of a team focused on the execution of routine maintenance and repairs in a safe and efficient manner and ensure all equipment achieves a high level of availability and reliability. You will ensure your experience and skills in Project Control ultimately deliver projects in accordance with the BHP, relevant site standards and approved performance targets (HSEC, cost, quality, schedule). Your success will be determined through collaborative engagement of both internal BHP stakeholders and external construction contractors and consultants.  You will actively plan the safe execution of major shutdowns on dragline and shovels and will be directly accountable for managing safety, cost, schedule and quality across multiple brownfields projects.

This is a largely site-based role (approx. 80%) and will require you to work from our Peak Downs Mine site on a 5/2 roster and later at Saraji Mine Site.  

The following duties will be an important part of this position:  

  • Plan and control the purchasing requirements of the dragline and shovel shutdowns.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to safety by actively engaging in the BHP Field Leadership program.
  • Support the delivery of project commitments and outcomes according to project standards.
  • Develop baseline plans to manage project schedule, cost and resource allocation.
  • Develop contract estimates and price build ups with consideration for predictability and forecast.
  • Execute project planning continuous improvement initiatives to solve complex challenges in the planning phase.
  • Promote a high standard of operating discipline and high performance in project execution, establishing routines necessary for safe and efficient project delivery.
  • Monitor project team performance, project controls, schedules, risks and costs, and reports on potential deviations to achieve optimum project delivery.
  • Executes project safety plans and provides feedback on results and impacts to all stakeholders.  

About You

The successful candidate will have the following attributes:   

  • Previous exposure to projects and an understanding of cost, planning, scheduling and estimating.
  • Proven experience providing exceptional support to a wide range of groups and stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage internal stakeholders, external consultants and contractors throughout a program of multiple capital projects.
  • High levels of attention to detail and quality delivery focus
  • Experienced in the development and management of plans and schedules.
  • Good time management skills with an ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, negotiating and influencing abilities.
  • High level communication skills, including the ability to produce clear, concise professional verbal and written information for key stakeholders.
