About the Role
As a member of the Modifications and Operational Projects (M&OPs) team you will bring technical project management capability to execute and deliver projects in accordance with the BHP Small Projects Management Framework, relevant site standards and approved performance targets (HSE, cost, quality, schedule).
Success in this role will be achieved through engagement with BHP stakeholders, external design consultants, construction contractors and materials suppliers. You will actively project-manage the, execution, handover, commissioning and close-out phases of multiple multi-disciplinary projects, and will be directly accountable for managing safety, cost, schedule, quality and operational readiness on your projects. As well as supporting the design phase with your practical constructability perspective.
This position can be based in Olympic Dam residential or Adelaide, with weekly site travel.
In this role you will:
- Demonstrate a commitment to safety by actively engaging in the BHP Field Leadership program.
- Project manage multiple M&OPs projects (each typically A$500k - A$10M) through the design, execution, commissioning, handover and close-out phases.
- Ensure compliance to BHP Group, Business, and Asset level requirements, statutory regulations and standards, and relevant BHP Olympic Dam site standards and specifications.
- Provide input into M&OP strategic plans, budgets and targets, and ensure compliance for projects under your control.
- Perform regular evaluation of project risks and implement controls where necessary. Regular field verification of risk controls will be required.
- Provide regular project progress reports, across various platforms, to all stakeholders.
- Hold a high standard of personal operational discipline, and establish routines necessary for safe and efficient project delivery.
- Coordinate operational readiness requirements so that handover of projects is inclusive of all maintenance plans, work instructions, spare parts, etc.
- At project completion, ensure all project documentation has been updated to as-commissioned status and submitted to the Governance & Technical Stewardship team for final endorsement and storage.
- Regularly liaise with other project teams and operational functions across Olympic Dam to provide sharing of knowledge and aid continual improvement in project delivery.
About You
- Significant experience in minerals processing/production and mining, or other similar heavy industrial sectors.
- Demonstrated experience across a portfolio of technical projects with multiple delivery requirements
- A proactive, self-driven team player who operates with honesty and integrity.
- Formal qualifications (trade or degree) in Construction, technical trade (mechanical, electrical, civil), Engineering or an aligned discipline
- Ability to manage internal stakeholders and external consultants and contractors through a program of multiple capital projects.
- Ability to work flexibly from multiple job locations, including management of city-based consultants, and site-based contractors.
- Experienced in Contractor tendering, assessment and engagement, including development of detailed scopes of work and bid evaluations, as well as providing input into Contract development.
- Good time management skills with an ability to managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Demonstrated technical skills with a proactive approach to problem solving.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing abilities.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to produce clear, concise reports for senior BHP business leaders.
