About the Role
The Specialist Studies supports the Principal Studies in the development of projects valued between $US10M and $US250M (Brownfield expansions and modifications) through coordination with external parties and cooperation with internal teams to deliver business cases and value optimized project outcomes.
In the Specialist Studies role you will:
Work within the study team, assisting the Principal Studies to manage and coordinate the study phase.
Ensure conformance with the BHP Billiton Charter, the BHP Billiton Group Level Documents, Code of Conduct and relevant statutory obligations;
- Coordinate the involvement of subject matter experts and act as the primary point of contact for technical issues. Coordinate the process for scope optimisation whilst assuring compliance to technical standards
- Develop and obtain support and approval from internal stakeholders on key project documentation and integrate functional inputs.
- Review technical reports and translate into investment related deliverables.
- Ensure project changes and decisions are clearly documented throughout the development phase and are formally handed over to the delivery team.
- Coordinate risk management and value management activities within the development of projects.
- Assist in capturing internal lessons learned and external best practices across the project and identifies opportunities for improvement.
- Identify, develop and implement systems and process that improves the efficiency of project development.
About You

- Ability to interpret complex technical information and distil relevant findings into clear concise reports
- Collaborative and creative problem solver
- Engagement and influencing skills, with the ability to manage internal stakeholders, external consultants and contractors
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills including the ability to influence and build effective relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders in a complex environment.
- Experience in a team setting managing a variety of stakeholders and projects
- Experience in a studies and project setting is desirable
- Understanding of business value drivers and value optimisation processes.
- Strong safety culture.
- Study / Project Management, Engineering, Finance, Science, Trades, or other relevant fields.
Location
Multiple positions based in Brisbane offering staff, contract and part time opportunities with periodic travel to site.
