Perth based full time role with irregular site travel.
Responsible for the Engineering management of complex projects across all phases- Studies, Execution through to Close-out
Provide Technical leadership to a portfolio of projects
Coach Project Engineers on the fundamentals of discipline engineering
About the role
We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated Specialist Project Engineer to join the Sustaining Capital Engineering Management Team.
Sustaining Capital delivers a diverse portfolio of projects for Rio Tinto Iron Ore to maintain the supply chain capacity. The Projects undertaken by Sustaining Capital include construction of haul roads, workshops, camps, fixed plant assets, rail and marine infrastructure.
Reporting to the Principal Project Engineering, you will:
Prepare Scope of works for Engineering to assist the Study Lead
Ensure Engineering compliance of Dry Processing Assets to applicable RTIO and Australian Standards
Demonstrated expertise in Engineering of Dry Processing Assets in Iron Ore mining is advantageous
Participate in design reviews and critically review Engineering deliverables.
Ensure cost and schedule compliance of Engineering activities within the project.
Coordinate Technical Queries with consultants (providing technical and site experience/input) and/or engineering subject matter experts
Supporting the Project Lead, review progress payment claims, review project schedule compliance, provide monthly progress reports to internal stakeholders, track project budget, prepare and review accommodation and monthly cashflow forecasts.
Demonstrate safety leadership in the field, engaging in Critical Risk Management ensuring the highest HSEQ standards are being met at all times.
Collaborate with project support functions (including procurement, cost analysis, estimators, planners, shutdown schedulers, travel, accommodation, and mobilisation teams).
Support broader portfolio of projects, depending on demand and priority
Coach Project Engineers on the fundamentals of discipline engineering
About you
To be successful in the role, you will have:
Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical Engineering and at least 5 years experience in Project Engineering
Demonstrated experience in design or project engineering of Fixed Plant Dry Processing Assets – Conveyors, Screens, Crushers, Rockbreakers, Balanced Machines, etc.
The ability to work collaboratively across a diverse range of stakeholders and operational teams
Specialist level knowledge of Fixed Plant related Australian Standards.
A demonstrated commitment to safety
A current and valid manual ‘C Class’ driver's license

This position is based in Perth at our Central Park office with irregular commute to Pilbara based Operations.
