About the Role
With a particular focus on Mines Electrification and decarbonisation, this is an exceptional opportunity to step into a Specialist Studies role and continue your development. In this role you will execute work in support of the Project Leads in the identification, selection and definition phase of a Proof of Concept (PoC) project or project area and to deliver the approved business objectives, within the constraints of scope, time, quality and budget. All must be done with conformance to the BHP Charter, the BHP Business Requirements, Code of Conduct and relevant statutory obligations and in compliance with BHP Our Requirements and documents and with an overriding commitment to health, safety, environment responsibility and sustainable development.
This role will be flexible site based or Perth based with regular site visits for an initial 12 month secondment or fixed-term.
In this role you will:
- Assist in the preparation of the identification, selection and definition phase studies as directed by Project Leads, including assisting to manage internal and external project resources, technical report reviews, technical report and memorandum drafting, preparation of presentation materials and other project deliverables as required (e.g. Project Execution Plans, Statement of Requirements etc)
- Set up safe, simplified and flexible “Proof of Concept” delivery based on deep understanding mine planning and effective collaboration with mining and maintenance operations
- Complete scope lock and Owner Design Reviews with deep understanding of value optimisation and trade off studies
- Liaise with all the key internal and external stakeholders to identify and assist to obtain potential external approvals
- Develop and update Statement of Requirement and Functional Test Requirement
- Coordinate the involvement of operational work groups and act as the primary point of contact for mine planning issues and support the process for engineering scope optimization whilst assuring compliance to project and engineering standards
- Develop project risk register, conduct regular HAZID-HAZOP risk review to proactively manage project risk, maximise adherence to safety and minimise operational interruptions
- Assist with data collection, validation and analysis as input to project close out report
About You
To be successful you will be highly driven, outcome focused and have experience working in fast-paced and sometimes ambiguous environments. You will be an effective problem solver with excellent verbal / presentation and written communications skills.
You will have divergent and convergent thinking skills, an ability to identify and assess risks and be adept at stakeholder management. Your ability to manage complexity and ambiguity will be a key strength in this role.
You will also have:
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline including Engineering, Geology, Mining Engineering or an aligned area
- Experience in Mine Planning and operational environments
- Exceptional understanding of WAIO operating model and stakeholders accountability
- Demonstrated experience in studies or front-end project development is advantageous
- Strong communication, influencing and relationship-building skills, with an aptitude for collaborating with a range of internal and external stakeholders
