Macmahon has an exciting, newly created, opportunity for a Projects and Technology Specialist to join the Business Support Services team in Perth. Reporting to the Manager – Projects and Technology, the purpose of this role is to assist with the identification, implementation and support of Operational Technologies across the Surface, Underground and Civil business units. This role will see you emersed in emerging technologies aimed at improving operational efficiencies and safety. You will perform a key function supporting the investigation, implementation and continuous improvement of Macmahon’s Operational Technology platforms ensuring their alignment to the broader strategic Business Goals and Vision of Macmahon. This role will support our site operations and will require some travel within Australia.
 

The Perth office is strategically located at the Airport (T1/T2) and boasts an impressive staff gym with personal and group training, free secure undercover parking, and electric vehicle charging stations. 
 
 
The role 
 
 

  • Provide direction and guidance to end users on the use and application of Macmahon’s operational technologies (OT)
  • Assist with the evaluation of identified technologies for business suitability
  • Assist with site operational technology reviews and evaluations including processes and application
  • Provide guidance and advice regarding the operation and use of employed operational technologies within the business
  • Conduct training workshops with site trainers and frontline teams during system deployments and in the event of significant system changes
  • Provide advice to end users who have questions regarding OT system functionality
  • Review programme release notes and provide summary communication to site teams
  • Provide feedback and insight from front line users regarding the suitability of current technologies employed and identify gaps and opportunities for improvement
  • Collaborate with the Business Analytics team to provide business insights generated from operational technology data

Qualifications & Experience
 
 

  • 10+ years’ experience within the mining and/or resources sector in a technical role 
  • 5+ years’ experience in a mining operational or maintenance strategic or leadership role
  • Strong understanding of mining operations and maintenance processes
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage site technical, operational and maintenance teams
  • Understanding of mining technologies available within the industry
  • Degree qualified in mining, resource management or related discipline – desired, not essential
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively under tight deadlines 
  • Strong written and presentation skills
