About the Role

The Specialist, Project Commercial will be required to work collaboratively with Olympic Dam Asset and Major Project teams to plan, implement and manage contracts according to the approved strategy with an overriding commitment to health, safety, environment responsibility and sustainable development.  

The role has the potential to support both new and existing Projects within the Company’s South Australian operations.The role will be based in Adelaide and will require site visits from time to time as the project team requires.  

In this role you will:

  • Support end-to-end Contract Management activities for multiple services and goods packages.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  •  Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders to sponsor deeper relationships with all supply chain partners. 
  • Support the development of, and implement strategies and management plans to ensure successful Project Execution.
  • Ensure adherence to the BHP Charter, Code of Conduct, Group Level Documents (GLDs), Functional Level Requirements (FLRs) and relevant statutory obligations.
  • Monitor performance of work under contract at both project and portfolio levels in line with contracted Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Escalate contractual issues to relevant stakeholders and coordinate the resolution process including the facilitation and resolution of issues arising from claims, invoicing and rebates.

About You

Ideally, you will hold a tertiary qualification (Quantity Surveying/procurement, engineering, business, law is preferred) or similar with experience within the mining and mineral resources industry. 

You will have the opportunity to utilize your engagement and collaboration skills in managing stakeholder relationships. Likewise, you will have excellent interpersonal skills and a high standard of oral and written communication skills.

You will also possess the following:

  • Demonstrable analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in applying your strengths in analysis and problem solving in order to develop business solutions.
  • Experience working with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work effectively both independently and in a team-based environment.
  • Demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
  • Strong multi-tasking and organizational management skills.
  • Proficient in the MS Office Suite of products, specifically Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • SAP experience and experience in a mature Contract Management System.
  • In addition to the above, candidates who possess one or more of the following highly desirable skills will be carefully considered:
  • Experience in supporting Greenfields projects or major projects (above US$500M).
  • Experience in supporting operational mining contracts or partnership style contracts.
  • Experience in on-boarding local and indigenous vendors in larger organizations.
  • Experience with establishing maintenance and support agreements.
