About the Role

We are currently seeking a Study Specialist to join the WA Asset Projects Studies Group. A role that is pivotal in the successful identification and management of projects with a focus on environmental and health risk areas.

The Study Specialist role brings a unique opportunity to use existing technical knowledge and experience whilst expanding your project management skillsets, all under the guidance and support of the Study Lead and Manager.

Project management utilises a broad range of skills including critical thinking, problem solving, effective communication, negotiation and conflict management, organisation and workload prioritisation. This role will give you the opportunity to build on these skillsets and you will be encouraged to take ownership for driving Projects to successful outcomes within a safe and supportive team environment.

Reporting to a Study Lead in the Mines and Non-Process Infrastructure Portfolio, you will support the development of Projects through Initiation, Identification, Selection and Definition investment phases.

 Key accountabilities will include:

  • Business case development, opportunity framing, study work planning and end of phase reporting through study phases.
  • Development of scopes of work, reviewing tender documentation and assessing submissions.
  • Engagement with clients, stakeholders and contractors to identify and meet project objectives.
  • Collaboration with Project Services including scheduling, costing, delivery, and procurement to implement, track and report Project progress.
  • Development and maintenance of Field Leadership and Risk schedules to ensure project risks are identified and actively managed.
  • Identify and contribute to value optimisation initiatives while integrating stakeholder requirements.

About You

To meet the technical and project management requirements of the role we are looking for someone with:

  • A degree in science, engineering or post-graduate studies in business/finance or project management (preferred)
  • Experience with complex brownfield processing (desirable)
  • Demonstrated skills in effective communication and organization (essential)
  • Some level of Project Management experience.
  • Report writing and presentation skills
  • Stakeholder engagement and management experience
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills
