Specialist Reliability Engineer

Work Location: Solomon. Fortescue’s Solomon mine is located on the traditional lands of the Eastern Guruma and Yindjibarndi peoples.

Roster: 4D/3R – FIFO ex Perth

You will be responsible for providing the maintenance team with effective leadership, planning and resources to achieve zero harm, safe systems of work, quality, performance, financial objectives, and operational targets, within budget, to targets of availability and reliability and to manufacturer’s specification.

Key accountabilities:

  • Lead short term and long-term reliability improvements across the Solomon iron ore processing facility including crushing hubs, processing facility, overland conveyor system, stock yard and train loading (TLO).
  • Lead the facility defect elimination initiatives as the custodian of the process.
  • Plan and execute reliability cost saving project and focus on continues improvements.
  • Facilitate and perform facility RCAs and drive implementation actions for root cause mitigations.
  • Perform critical spare review across the facility and implement sparing strategies.
  • Drive weekly reliability meetings, discuss weekly downtime issues, identify, and assign action and follow-up till closure.
  • Provide inputs to new project developments and initiatives in terms of reliability aspects.
  • Mentor team of reliability engineers and master data specialist to achieve company objectives and their personal development goals.
  • Actively participate in field leadership program and identify facility hazardous conditions and behaviors and take imitate actions to eliminate risks.
  • Perform daily pre-starts meetings and discuss job plans and safety concerns of the day.

Qualifications and skills required:

  • Tertiary Engineering qualifications in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Site-based experience in a Maintenance / Reliability Engineering role
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills and proven ability to connect, work with and influence key stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
  • FMECA, RCA, RCM, LCC and Lean Six sigma (desirable)
  • Strong data interrogation and analytics skills (Tableau desirable)
  • Knowledge of EAM, CMMS software including SAP.
  • Hands-on coaching and support experience of the various reliability processes.
