ABOUTGEMCO

Located on the tropical Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory, GEMCO is an open-cut mine that is accountable for over 15% of the world's manganese ore production. Groote Eylandt is home to the Anindilyakwa people, who are the traditional owners of the land and have been working alongside GEMCO since 1963.

ABOUT THE ROLE 

This role is a Permanent position on a 7:7 Day shift roster, FIFO from Darwin or Cairns.                                                                                                                

As the Specialist Safety you will be responsible for supporting the development, governance and continuous improvement of safety systems and behaviours across the GEMCO operation.

Key deliverables for the role are, but aren’t limited to:

  • Leading and coaching safe behaviours across teams and leaders
  • Delivering expert support in safety processes, tools and investigations
  • Analysing safety data to identify trends and recommend improvements
  • Ensuring high-quality incident management, reporting and follow-up

ABOUT YOU 

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following: 

  • Building strong relationships and influencing diverse teams
  • Confidently managing multiple priorities with minimal supervision
  • Facilitating training, coaching, and promoting safe work practices
  • Using data to drive continuous safety improvement initiatives

Qualifications for this position are: 

  • Cert IV Safety or Occupational Health (Minimum)
  • Diploma of Health & Safety and or
  • Bachelor’s Degree/Diploma (Science / Safety /Engineering / Similar) or relevant trade/engineering degree.
  • ICAM or similar
