Olympic Dam is one of the world's most significant deposits of copper, gold, and uranium. Located 560 kilometres north of Adelaide, South Australia, Olympic Dam is a part of our Minerals Australia operation. It's made up of underground and surface operations and operates a fully integrated processing facility from ore to metal.​

The Project Controls and Analysis team are a highly integrated function within project teams to support the controlled delivery of a portfolio of multi-disciplinary projects across Olympic Dam and beyond.  

About the Role

Reporting to the Lead Project Controls and Analysis, the role of the Specialist Scheduler is to support and drive project delivery of the Oak Dam Underground Access Project through the provision on planning and scheduling services. Oak Dam is an iron-oxide copper-gold (IOCG) deposit located 65 km south-east of Olympic Dam (OD) and 35km from Oz Minerals Carrapateena Mine. Its development is in line with the BHP growth strategy of increasing its exposure to future facing commodities through creation of tier 1 assets. 

Responsibilities of the role shall include:  

  • Ensure conformance with the BHP Charter, Our Requirements, MAP Internal Standard, Code of Conduct, and relevant statutory obligations
  • An overriding commitment to health, safety, environment responsibility and sustainable development
  • Development of detailed project plans in line with Company global standards and approved project scope documents
  • Identification and integration of external interfaces into a project schedule
  • Critical path analysis and holistic schedule optimisation against risks and delays to maintain forecasts against approved baseline
  • Monitors compliance of contractor schedules and reports with corporate and business guidelines and consistency with the overall planning and scheduling methodology
  • Scenario planning and trade off analysis
  • Facilitation of cross-functional schedule reviews and updates with project stakeholders through to schedule finalisation.
  • Resource loading
  • Establishing project baselines
  • Proactive management of schedule performance against approved baselines and Key Performance Indicators
  • Champion and drive the approved change management process
  • Supports in portfolio level reports and dashboards
  • Routine progress reporting including earned value management and project performance analysis, leading to executable recommendations to improve project delivery outcomes.
  • Support validation of contractor progress claims
  • Identifies and implements improvement initiatives

About You

As a successful candidate you will possess the following mandatory attributes:

  • Highly proficient Primavera P6 capability.
  • Demonstrated relevant experience in project scheduling, with high attention to detail.
  • Exposure to engineering processes and/or construction experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build strong working relationships with stakeholders.
  • Ability to optimize integration of multiple activities.
  • Be task oriented, with a bias to working autonomously.
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective management of time and workload to meet deadlines.

Other desirable attributes but not compulsory:

  • Project Management qualification.
  • Engineering degree qualification.
  • Engineering design and construction experience.
  • PMBOK knowledge.

Location and Roster

This role is based in Adelaide on a Monday-Friday roster, offering a quality standard of living without the high costs of most other Australian capital cities. This role may involve some site travel.
