Nickel West is a fully integrated mine-to-market business. Our culture is rich with technical know-how, highly efficient, and focused on innovation. The business employs over 2500 people from five operations across Western Australia comprising of nickel underground and open-cut mines, concentrators, a smelter, and a refinery. We also have plans to expand our operations with new mines in the northern Goldfields and a large Nickel Sulphate plant in Kwinana.

About the Role
As Specialist Scheduling you will be responsible for developing and communicating short term schedule production plans to the business with a focus on aligning to yearly production targets. You will be accountable for co-ordinating the movement and processing of product from ore to metal through the NiW supply chain including developing strategies to recover from unplanned operational events. In addition, you will be able to lead new initiatives and projects that will deliver a step change in our team performance.
Reporting to the Superintendent Scheduling, you will play an integral role by:
- Maintaining an overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development.
- Daily and short-term modelling of the value chain and schedule management, applying supply chain knowledge, buffer management and internal operating philosophies, to maximise supply chain performance
- Work closely with all sites to deliver optimal results and develop mitigating strategies to overcome value chain challenges.
- Ensure supply and demand is achieved through the development, publishing and communicating of short term logistics schedules, and through monitoring of daily operational performance against plan across the supply chain
- Ensure supply chain losses through unplanned events are minimised by developing and communicating appropriate supply chain recovery plans with key stakeholders.
- Facilitate daily production call with all sites and logistics to ensure plan alignment and enables flagging of issues that may impact the short term horizon.
- Ensures all relevant personnel stakeholders are aware of the detailed requirements and any changes during the shift through regular communication.
This position is offered as Monday to Friday, supporting weekend coverage when required, with the opportunity to explore flexible work arrangements.
About You
As the successful candidate you will possess the following:
- A positive proactive attitude towards problem solving.
- Sound computer literacy skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge or openness to learn power BIs tools is highly desirable.
- Passion for challenging the status quo and a DNA for continuous improvement.
- Good collaboration and interpersonal skills are required to influence stakeholders in the delivery of positive business outcomes.
- Have a background in mining, mineral processing, engineering, technology or similar discipline.
- Tertiary qualification in a related discipline desirable.
- Experience and knowledge of Nickel West supply chain is desirable but not mandatory.
Comfortable working on an ever changing environment and able to deal with certain level of ambiguity
