About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated Site Improvement Specialist to join BHP Iron Ore’s Rail team based at Port Hedland.
The successful candidate will join a dynamic team working on a portfolio of exciting projects. This role will provide opportunities for broadening ones understanding of the WAIO Supply Chain with particular focus on Rail, the system’s bottleneck, and how it facilitates the needs of the other functions across WAIO.
Reporting to the Superintendent Site Improvement, you will be responsible for but not limited to:
- Demonstrating safety leadership by supporting the Field Leadership program to continuously improve safety performance.
- Managing stakeholder relationships and enhancing our communications both within Rail and across all WAIO functions.
- Providing coaching to leaders and frontline workforce on BHP Improvement framework, WAVE and development of fit-for-purpose business case and decision evaluation to support key initiatives.
- Prepare analysis and reporting on operational performance, assisting development of benchmarks and support identifying and implementing improvement initiatives which supporting business priorities.
- Demonstrating a passion for using the BHP Operating System (BOS) to identify improvement opportunities and unlock value for Rail and the Supply Chain.
About You
We are looking for individuals who are innovative with a bias to action, possess work management knowledge and can demonstrate strong analytical and business improvement skills that have led to bottom-line improvements. Your strong written communication skills are founded by experienced analytical and presentation abilities allowing you to effectively communicate and influence all levels of the business.

- The ability and desire to link their purpose in the Site Improvement Team with the WAIO’s integrated operational strategy.
- A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Suite of products (Excel, PowerPoint)
This role will be offered as a FIFO based role from Perth or Residential in Port Hedland, but those in pursuit of flexible work arrangements are encouraged to apply.
