Specialist - Sourcing Optimisation

Work Location: Perth. Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.

Roster: Monday - Friday 

Reporting to the Superintendent – Sourcing Optimisation this new role will become a cornerstone for the cohesion of the Procurement and Logistics function, servicing predominantly the Procurement Category and Procurement Services teams.

This role has become available at an exciting time in the Procurement and Logistics function journey with an opportunity to develop and implement go-to market strategies for previously un-managed spend as well as manage vendor performance to contractual KPIs. These new responsibilities along with the implementation of new procurement systems will allow the implementation of best practice sourcing processes, ensuring the continued success of the broader Procurement and Logistics function.

This exciting role requires someone with a proven ability to understand and manage the complexity of the supply chain in the mining sector, a strong commercial acumen coupled with the ability to analyse data in order to prioritize and execute the most relevant / value-add commercial activities. In addition, the ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, a methodical approach to work and an ability to effectively and succinctly report on progress

Key responsibilities include:

  • Effective people engagement and influencing while demonstrating an alignment with Fortescue’s values
  • Effective interface between Procurement Category teams and vendors through KPI performance management process
  • Development of procurement strategies and contracts to address tail spend
  • Provide healthy tension within the business, balancing service levels and the need for frugality, compliance and transparency.

Education and Experience:

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact on all levels in a large organisation
  • Ideally >5 years’ experience in a fast-paced procurement function (preferably mining)
  • Tertiary qualification in Business, Commerce, Law is desirable
  • Significant exposure to mining or heavy industry combined with extensive commercial experience will be highly regarded
