About the MECoE

BHP’s Maintenance and Engineering Centre of Excellence (MECoE) is the coming together of a dedicated, innovative team focused on identifying, implementing, and sustaining the highest standards in maintenance for BHP globally. 

This role will be performed from our Centre of Excellence hubs based in our Perth office, supported by the latest technology to engage with our sites around Australia and the globe.

About the Role

The Strategy Optimisation Plant, Rail, Port (SOPRP) team within the MECoE, Maintenance Strategy Development (MSD) sub-function, focuses on improving rail, port and infrastructure equipment performance to enable the supply chain from our Mineral Australia Operations.

Reporting to the Superintendent Strategy Optimisation PRP, this role supports the delivery of the WAIO Rail business plan by ensuring MECoE - governed equipment are effectively deployed, reviewed and improvement opportunities identified and implemented, with focus on the management of equipment strategies for rolling stock and associated facilities.

Your key accountabilities will be:

  • Identify, lead and implement improvement initiatives that optimise maintenance cost and equipment reliability to support the delivery of the WAIO Rail business plan;
  • Assess prospective equipment strategy changes and ensure the integrity of the MECoE governed strategies are maintained in our asset management performance system;
  • Identify and replicate best in class maintenance strategies and practices to improve equipment performance and reduce business risks; and
  • Integrate with the Maintenance team and other functions in managing equipment strategies in accordance with business processes and systems.

About You

We are seeking applicants with tertiary or trade qualifications in technical and/or engineering that have practical and/or consulting experience in the manufacturing, mining and processing industries, where previous exposure to the iron ore, nickel and copper industries is advantageous and practical experience in the rail industry is required.  

You have a background in maintenance, reliability and/or engineering, with good data analytics mindset along with excellent communication skills and strong stakeholder management capabilities.
