We are seeking a Specialist Supplier Engagement to assist with executing and managing supplier engagements across Indigenous supplier groups providing services to our Pilbara operations. Working closely with the Indigenous Business Development teams and the Communities team this role will provide a key interface to internal and external business stakeholders with regards to supporting Rio Tinto’s strategy to support the “Buy Local” initiatives.

Reporting to the Specialist Supplier Engagement this role will be based in Karratha on a permanent full-time basis you will be responsible for but not limited to:
- Working closely with Indigenous and Local Suppliers to support the efficacy and delivery of their supplier engagement
- Assist suppliers with the navigating the Rio Tinto Procurement process
- Assist with identifying and developing opportunities to increase Indigenous & local supplier participation across the Pilbara operations
- Participate in local government or community meetings as an SME for Indigenous Supplier engagement
- Liaise with site-based procurement champions and internal SMEs on supplier queries and providing proactive local market insights
- Provide efficient and effective administrative support including preparing correspondence, communicating with internal teams, and preparing presentations and reports.
- Travel to multiple sites and regional towns when required
- Champion the “Buy Local / Grow Local” strategy
What you’ll bring
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
- Proven track record working in the supply chain with a strong focus on EOI, Tender and vender qualification processes
- The skills to communicate and consult effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders
- High level of cultural awareness and previous experience working with Indigenous Supplier groups highly desirable
- Excellent communication skills and an ability to quickly develop positive relationships with stakeholders
- Proficient time management skills and ability to prioritise complex tasks
- Experience in reporting and preparing presentations.
- The ability to work in a team environment
