About the role
The track machine specialist is required to provide technical expertise across maintenance, renewals, upgrades, and construction works that fall under their area of expertise. This includes integrating enabling maintenance activities to ensure effective resurfacing can be completed, effective planning to maximise resource usage and facilitate improvement projects to drive output quality.
Working 5 days on 2 days off / 4 days on 3 days off roster and reporting to the Resurfacing Superintendent, you will:
- Seek and implement innovative methods of improving production and safety
- Support the delivery of works by assisting with planning, project management, work methodology and implementation of works on site to ensure work is completed efficiently, safely and complies with designs and standards
- Ensure works are completed in accordance with the Technical Maintenance Plan and/or the Annual Works Plan
- Monitor the quality of works undertaken and ensure corrective actions are undertaken where deficiencies are identified
- Identify and support Engineering in type approvals of all infrastructure geometry assets
- Perform risk assessments of processes, work practices, materials, suppliers and innovations to ensure work is delivered as efficiently and safely as possible
About you
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
- Experience within the rail industry (Track machines)
- Experience in leading and supervising teams
- Certificate 3 in Rail infrastructure.
- Certificate 3 or higher Trade Qualification (electrical or mechanical)
- Full CAT C licence
Where you will be working
This role will be offered on a 5 days on 2 days off / 4 days on 3 days off Residential Roster or FIFO from Perth.
We operate 200 locomotives on more than 1,700 kilometres of track in the Pilbara, transporting ore from 16 mines to four port terminals. The average return distance of these trains is about 800 kilometres with the average journey cycle, including loading and dumping, taking approximately 40 hours. Our network is the largest privately owned and operated heavy haul rail system in Australia, and as we focus on the future, our vision is to become the greatest heavy haul railway in the world.
