ABOUT THE ROLE 

This role is a Permanent position on a 9-day fortnight roster. Our Worsley Refinery is a short drive from communities such as Collie (20 Minutes) & Bunbury (45 Minutes) which all offer an enviable country lifestyle. Surrounded by magnificent jarrah forests, pristine beaches and world-famous wineries, you will live and work in one of the most beautiful regions of Western Australia and still be home each night. 

Candidates should ideally live within an hour’s drive of Collie as there is no accommodation on site.

As the Specialist Training Crisis, Emergency & Health, you will be responsible for delivering and continuously improving training, competency and assurance programs that strengthen emergency response, incident management and health capability across Worsley Alumina's operational sites.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to: 

  • Facilitate and assess training programs that build emergency response capability, incident management and health capability across Emergency Response and Health teams to enhance compliance and operational readiness.
  • Verify workforce competence through assessments, observations and assurance processes to maintain compliance and capability standards.
  • Manage training and competency systems, reporting and governance requirements to support regulatory and organisational obligations.
  • Partner key stakeholders to identify capability gaps, implement improvements and strengthen emergency preparedness.

ABOUT YOU

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:  

  • Proven experience delivering and assessing engaging, competency-based training within emergency services, mining, heavy industry, or other high-risk operational environments.
  • Demonstrated capability in Verification of Competency (VOC), workplace assessments, and training assurance processes, with the ability to communicate professionally, clearly, and confidentially with employees, leaders, and external partners.
  • Experience supporting Emergency Response Teams (ERTs), Incident Management Teams (IMTs), emergency preparedness initiatives, and healthcare training programs. Additionally, provides support for high-risk response activities and forms part of a collaborative leadership response team when required.
  • Strong knowledge of training governance, compliance requirements, risk management principles, and critical control frameworks, with the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail and producing high-quality documentation.
  • Well-developed stakeholder engagement and coaching skills, with the ability to influence others and build capability across all organisational levels.
  • Proven ability to analyse training, compliance, and performance data to identify trends, mitigate risks, and drive continuous improvement opportunities

Qualifications for this position are:  

Essential

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122 or equivalent).
  • Certificate III in Emergency Response and Rescue
  • Qualifications in Emergency Management, Work Health and Safety or Health disciplines.
  • Experience working within Incident Management Team (IMT) structures.
  • Experience supporting Emergency Response Teams (ERT) and emergency preparedness programs.
  • Knowledge of Principal Mining Hazards, critical controls and risk management frameworks.
