About the Role

A fantastic opportunity has arisen at within BHP’s Olympic Dam’s Strategic Planning and Studies team for a highly motivated and dynamic Strategic Analyst.

In this role you will support the development of Olympic Dam’s long-term strategy through commercial and financial analysis / modelling. The role will work closely with stakeholders across the broader Planning and Technical department and will have involvement in the optimisation of the SA Copper region.

This role is based in Adelaide and offers excellent flexibility.

In this role you will:

  • Develop valuation models and trade-off analysis to support Olympic Dam’s strategic planning processes and studies
  • Prepare and maintain detailed cost and benchmarking models, financial valuations across multiple scenarios, and other bespoke analytical tools
  • Conduct sensitivity analysis to understand key value drivers
  • Prepare dashboards and other data visualisations for review and reporting
  • Audit and review evaluation models and implement recommendations as part of continuous improvement
  • Prepare reports and presentations that document methodology and assumptions or communicate the outcomes and findings
  • Collaborate with multiple stakeholders both internal and external to the department

About You

  • Degree qualified in a Finance, Business, Accounting, Economics or Engineering discipline
  • CPA/CA or post graduate qualifications are advantageous
  • Commercial acumen and experience in a similar role, ideally with a basis in mining, hydrocarbons, minerals processing or heavy industry projects
  • Valuation, financial modelling, analytical and management reporting skills
  • Strong communication skills; formal and informal, verbal and written
  • Highly developed Excel skills are essential
  • Ability to build credibility and achieve successful outcomes through engagement and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
  • Leading by example; hold yourself and others accountable and coach others in “Safety Leadership”
