Structural Designer – Studies and Projects

Work Location: Perth - Fortescue Centre - Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.

Roster: 5:2 (Monday to Friday) (12 Month Fixed Term Contract)

A fantastic opportunity for a mid to senior-level structural designer to join our Engineering and design team to assist in growing the design team's structural engineering capabilities and produce consistent, high-quality designs for our site stakeholders.

This role will initially be offered as a 12-month fixed term position, to support our operations and projects teams.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Produce layouts, models and detail drawings of concrete, structures and process plants.
  • Ensure compliance with standards, policies, and procedures, and ensure that all project deliverables meet the project requirements
  • Communicate with other departments, provide updates, raise issues, and attend team meetings
  • Perform checks to ensure the accuracy and consistency of all project drawings and documents throughout the design and detail phase.
  • Obtain practical feedback to help continually improve the output of the design office regarding accuracy, quality and presentation of drawings and documents, including the review and adhere to FMG standards and specifications
  • Demonstrate a high standard of personal safety and safe design practices

Qualifications and skills required:

  • Experience with mining structures.
  • Certification in Engineering Drafting and/or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 3D modelling and 2D drafting experience with Bentley Software.
  • Familiar with Australian and Mining Company Standards
  • Strong ability to effectively communicate
  • Ability to work independently and manage own workload and deliverables (and ability to problem solve)
