About the Role
We are currently recruiting a structural discipline engineer with specialisation in structural integrity to work within our Engineering Governance and Technical Stewardship team.
You will be a structural Subject Matter Expert for BHP’s mine assets focusing on reducing business risk, improving reliability and performance through the utilisation of best in class technical support and engineering practices.
Reporting to the Superintendent GTS – Structural, key responsibilities include:
- Undertake design calculations in accordance with AS4100, AS3600 and AS1170
- Review and approve engineering methodologies
- Undertake design engineering including provision of calculations
- Provide on-site support for maintenance activities
- Provide coaching, mentoring to junior team members
- Provide engineering support and diagnostics in breakdowns
- Participation in Root Cause Analysis/Investigations and improvement implementation
- Build excellent working relationship with key stakeholders
- Monitors compliance to minimum technical standards in respect to structural assets
The role will be a site-based hybrid role.
About You
You will be a highly skilled Engineering professional with knowledge of materials handling assets. You thrive on delivering key outcomes focused around safety management, technical governance and continuous improvement.
In addition, you will possess the following:
- A proven track record of safety management
- Minimum tertiary qualification in Engineering (Structural)
- Proven success in a similar role
- Experience in Engineering design; including:
- Structural Analysis (Steel and Concrete) and Modelling (Space Gass)
- Finite Element Analysis (Femap/Nastran/ANSYS preferred)
- Jacking and lifting of equipment
- Fatigue/End of life assessments to AS4100 or BS7608
- Knowledge of Australian Standards (AS4100, AS3990, AS3600, AS1170, AS1210, AS1657, AS4991 etc)
- Experience dealing with complex mining assets.
- Site based practical experience with maintenance and operations
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
