Study Manager
Work Location: Perth - Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk Noongar people.
Roster: Monday to Friday
We are currently seeking expressions of interest for a highly motivated Study Manager to join our Studies team. Reporting to the Senior Manager – Studies, this role is responsible for carrying out activities to support the approved studies within the studies portfolio.
To be successful in this role candidates must have strong interpersonal skills with good understanding of both operational and planning functions within the mining industry, including the technical and support functions that support these areas. The candidate will possess strong relationship and communication skills with strong operational background to be able to articulate the conceptual mining activities to the relevant stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include:
- Planning, execution and delivery of planned studies activities; identifying key operational activities within the study and provide commercial solutions to deliver these activities
- Building relationships with key external and internal stakeholders and effectively manage integration and coordination with operating activities
- Coordination and development of key inputs of the study including; project schedules, capital and operating cost estimates and business case for the study
- Finding and assessing innovative solutions that add value, from both an economic and social point of view, within the mining and infrastructure areas
- Liaise with technical support functions to understand risk and opportunities to the proposed operations and to enable timely achievement of study milestones
- Site travel and on ground coordination and planning required regularly
- The role will also interact with internal technical and functional stakeholders and will be expected to effectively manage integration and coordination with operating activities
Qualifications and Experience:
- Relevant Bachelor degree in Engineering (Mining, Mechanical, Electrical or similar)
- International experience (preferably Africa) will be advantageous
- Experience leading large scale studies up to feasibility studies advantageous
- Very strong interpersonal skills with both internal and external groups
- Strong interpersonal skills with both operations and technical teams
- Previous project management experience
- Strong commercial and contract acumen
- Knowledge in open pit mining and activities
- Team orientation and strong ability to take initiative
