CSA Mine is looking for current university students studying mechanical engineering to join our paid summer Vacation Student Program November 2022-February 2023.  Reporting to the mechanical engineer , you will work with a team that looks after mechanical fixed infrastructure for the underground mine as well as the processing plant. They are responsible for its maintenance, reliability and continuous improvement. You will work in one of the world’s most iconic mining districts, which has the second highest grade copper mine in the country. 

To ensure you get the most out of your vacation placement you will be exposed both to the day-to-day operations as well as your own individual project.

You will be exposed to:

• One of the deepest underground mine in Australia
• Day to day operations of mechanical assets including SAG mills and Winders
• Mine’s regulation and Australian standards and their linkage with mechanical activities/processes conducted onsite
• Activities involving hazard identification and risk analysis
• Various project management processes from inception to completion and closeout
• One on one coaching and feedback sessions

About You:

• Current university student studying Mechanical/Mechatronics/Industrial engineering
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Enthusiastic and proactive
• Ability to work independently when required
• Strong MS office skills including word and excel
• Able to work in Australia
• Able to commence onsite Monday 28 November 2022 and work until Friday 17 February 2023.

We offer competitive remuneration and as this is a residential position CSA Mine will pay for flights, and supply accommodation during your placement . CSA also provides Pool & Gym Reimbursements to our employees.

This position is offered on a 5/2 – 4/3 roster, allowing you time to explore the local region.  Your Vacation Program will also include social activities and targeted development activities designed for you to get the most out of being on our site and with our various professionals.

Located an eight-hour drive to Sydney, nine-hour drive to Melbourne, and a quick three-hour drive to Dubbo, Cobar is a fascinating town rich in mining heritage and natural attractions. Entertainment options include restaurants, pubs, and clubs for dining out. You will be kept busy with a bowling and golf club, rugby and rugby league teams, race club, pony club, Olympic size swimming pool, gym – and more! The town boasts beautiful parks, two reservoirs, picnic areas and playgrounds.
