CSA Mine is looking for current university students studying geotechnical engineering to join our paid summer Vacation Student Program November 2022-February 2023.  Reporting to the Senior Geotechnical Engineer & Technical Services Superintendent, you will work with a diverse, high-performing team that challenges the status quo, working on exciting projects that help us solve problems, leaving you with friendships and a greater understanding of the mining industry, while gaining practical work experience and the ability to get your hands dirty . You will work in one of the world’s most iconic mining districts, which has the second highest grade copper mine in the country and is one of the deepest. 

To ensure you get the most out of your vacation placement you will be exposed both to the day-to-day operations as well as your own individual project.

You will be exposed to:

• Industry leaders as part of a global organisation in a supportive and professional work environment
• A unique opportunity to gain industry experience whilst still completing your theoretical degree
• A vacation project to be decided on with the candidate in an area of interest

About You:

• Able to work in a team environment or independently
• Current manual driver’s license (preferred)
• Current university student studying Geotechnical Engineering
• Excellent planning and organisation skills
• Growth mindset willing to get your hands dirty and have fun
• High level of attention to detail
• Proven experience of multi-tasking
• Strong written and verbal communication
• Able to work in Australia
• Able to commence onsite Monday 28 November 2022 and work until Friday 17 February 2023.

We offer competitive remuneration and as this is a residential position CSA Mine will pay for flights, and supply accommodation during your placement . CSA also provides Pool & Gym Reimbursements to our employees.

This position is offered on a 5/2 – 4/3 roster, allowing you time to explore the local region.  Your Vacation Program will also include social activities and targeted development activities designed for you to get the most out of being on our site and with our various professionals.

Location

Located an eight-hour drive to Sydney, nine-hour drive to Melbourne, and a quick three-hour drive to Dubbo, Cobar is a fascinating town rich in mining heritage and natural attractions. Entertainment options include restaurants, pubs, and clubs for dining out. You will be kept busy with a bowling and golf club, rugby and rugby league teams, race club, pony club, Olympic size swimming pool, gym – and more! The town boasts beautiful parks, two reservoirs, picnic areas and playgrounds. The youth club Youthie is a vibrant children’s hub with a games room, gym and weights room, squash courts, sauna, indoor stadium, outdoor basketball court and a skate park.
