We have an exciting opportunity for a Superintendent Approvals to join our Approvals and Permitting team based at Cadia mine, near Orange in central west NSW.  You will be responsible for delivering regulatory approvals in a timely manner for new projects and activities.

This is a full-time, permanent opportunity; based in Orange NSW region - working a 5 days on / 2 days off roster (Mon – Fri)

Our Cadia site is located in Central West New South Wales, approximately 25 kms outside the vibrant regional town of Orange. Employees reside in the varied accommodation options in Orange, with the surrounding winery and national park areas to enjoy.

Who we’re looking for  

A key aspect of the role is liaising between projects and operational teams, and site-based management to ensure that clear and concise information is developed, to facilitate the regulatory approvals process. Through your involvement you influence and make positive contributions to Cadia mine and the environment. 

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and track the site governance plan for regulatory approvals, including planning schedules and approvals required
  • Provide technical advice to operational and functional teams on environmental regulatory licenses and requirements
  • Support the development and implementation of stakeholder engagement plans for all environmental approvals
  • Develop and coordinate management plans for projects
  • Effective liaison with operational, environmental, safety, and community relations teams to deliver robust management plans
  • Project management of external specialist consultants for the preparation of environmental assessment documents
  • Assist with relevant regulatory agency liaison to appropriately identify key concerns and address them in a timely manner
  • Support proactive and comprehensive stakeholder consultation to support the timely delivery of project approvals; and the mitigation of social performance risks related to impacts on stakeholders
  • Manage the process for obtaining and then supporting operating permits and approvals

About You

To succeed in this role, you will be safety focused, team oriented and enjoy working with a range of stakeholders to achieve approvals for key projects and business strategies. You will be recognised for being highly resilient and organised, with exceptional stakeholder engagement, communication and influencing skills.

  • Tertiary qualified with a degree in Environmental Science / Planning / Environmental Engineering / Environmental Law / Natural Resource Management (or related discipline)
  • Demonstrable experience (minimum 5 years), and understanding of, project approval processes and legislation for the mining sector (or other similar state significant development projects), gained through direct industry experience, regulatory authority, local government, consulting, or owner’s team background
  • Previous experience in environmental impact assessment, mitigation and/or environmental management highly advantageous
  • Understanding of risk management processes and analysis of critical risk
  • An understanding of and ability to interpret Commonwealth, NSW and mining environmental legislation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
